If you’ve never bet on soccer before, we’ve provided a European Championship betting example below. You can also see how sports odds work in more depth on our dedicated guide.
Spain are the slight favourites here, as they have lower odds. If you bet C$10 for them to win, then you would make C$13.80 profit and a total returns of C$23.80 with your stake back. If you fancy France, meanwhile, you’d get C$18 profit from a C$10 wager. Making your returns C$28.
Draws or ties in the regulation 90 minutes happen in soccer often. European Championship odds are no different in this respect. Backing a draw between Spain and France here would yield C$20 of profit from a C$10 stake, with the return being C$30.
Odds can be expressed as decimals like the above examples, or the British way using fractions. In Canada, the American moneyline style with a plus or minus sign next to the price is also popular. See how these compare by using our Euros odds calculator:
Our Expert Euro 2020 Predictions
Based on the above European Championship winner market, we’ve provided our own expert Euro 2020 predictions and picks:
Portugal to be outright winners is a great shout at 11.00. With global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, and in-form players Bruno Fernandes, Rúben Dias and João Félix in their team, they’ll be confident of becoming just the second nation to defend the Euros.
Germany each-way at 9.00 is also very tempting. Their manager Joachim Löw is stepping down after Euro 2020, so will be keen to add the title to his 2014 World Cup and 2017 Confederations Cup collection after being runners-up in 2008.
Down at 33.00 in the outright market, backing Croatia to reach the semi-finals seems very tempting. Croatia are one of football’s biggest overachievers, with a population of just 4 million. They were even runners-up at the 2018 World Cup.
As for top Euro 2020 goalscorers, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandowski and Euro 2016 top scorer Antoine Griezmann will all be high up in the market. But our pick is 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane, with his team England being the favourites.

How the Euros Work
What is the UEFA European Championship?
Better known as the Euros, the European Championship is an international soccer group and knockout tournament held every four years featuring all 55 UEFA member associations.
Qualifying reduces those to 24 for the tournament finals, which is usually held in one or two nations. Euro 2020 is the exception, as it will see 12 hosting countries.
